Version 1.2 is an updated version of previously released modules in a smaller package and with an improved component base.

The module allows you to call the playback of files located on a micro SD memory card via a noise-immune 2-wire RS-485 line and Modbus RTU protocol from a PC or PLC (programmable logic controllers), Raspberry Pi, etc.

Protocol description

The device contains a stereo line output (terminal blocks) and a standard 3.5 mm mini jack. Thus, it is possible to connect headphones, powered speakers, etc.

All module control commands are implemented by writing to the module registers (0x06 Modbus RTU function).

  • Size: 35mm wide standard DIN enclosure (89x35x65mm).
  • Commands: standard Modbus RTU commands (write register) allow you to play mp3 files from a microSD card, change the port baud rate, set the module address.
  • Indication: 1 power LED.
  • Data storage: micro SD card.
  • Power supply: 12V 100mA.
  • Memory: non-volatile memory chip for settings (module address and baud rate).
  • Connection: screw connectors for RS485, power supply, micro SD card slot, 3.5 audio jack, line-out.
  • Modbus address: (can be changed by Modbus command) 0 ... 255 (default address: 0x01).
  • Baud rate: (can be changed by Modbus command) 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 28800, 38400, 56000, 57600, 115200, 128000, 256000 (default 9600).
  • Port settings: 8n1
